Her parents are of French German with Irish and Scottish descent. Her father John Martin Magenau Jr. was the President and CEO of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery in Erie Pennsylvania which had been established in 1847. It was shut down in the year 1978. Jacobs began studying acting when she was eight years older and began taking class on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. She performed in the Pittsburgh Public Theater, where she took home the public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest many times. Mt. Jacobs graduated from Lebanon High School in New York, in the year 2000. After that, she relocated into New York City in order to pursue studies in the Juilliard School. Her graduation was with a bachelor's degree in 2004.
